FAQs

What is an estate or liquidation sale?

It is a scheduled and professionally managed sale of our client’s personal property and estate.  Our team of professionals carefully price items at fair market value and conduct the scheduled estate sale event onsite at our client’s home or business, and/or online via a virtual site or platform.

What is the difference between an estate sale and a yard sale?

A yard or garage sale is typically done by the homeowner in order to get rid of unwanted household items and advertisement of the sale is done via posters or a flyer.  An estate sale is conducted by a professional company who evaluates the homeowner’s estate and determine the best course of action to liquidate their personal property.  Advertisement is conducted via marketing channels, business social media outlets and other online sites.

What is a life transition?

Life transitions are planned or unplanned life changing events that cause a disruption to one's personal life. Some examples of life transitions are a loss of employment, divorce, caring for a loved one, downsizing a home or business, and even death.

Why would someone need an estate sale?

It is a way to sell items in a professional way and without the need for the owner to do it themselves.  Often after a life transition happens disposing of unwanted possessions can be overwhelming and an estate sale can assist an individual or family with sorting through the personal property and liquidating items of value for monetary gain.

Is there an upfront cost for your services?

We conduct a free initial evaluation of your home or business to assess and review your needs.  Based on the evaluation, Lone Star Legacy Liquidators will recommend the best solution for your needs and provide  you with an estimate of services. There is no out of pocket cost to you for the initial evaluation and no obligation to commit to our services.  Please refer to our services section for additional information.

Should I start removing or disposing of any household items?

Except for items you intend to keep or are part of an inheritance that are to be distributed to someone else, we recommend not to remove or dispose of anything until we have had an opportunity to evaluate your estate and/or personal property first.  Our experienced team will provide guidance on how to organize items to be sold, donated, or disposed.

What happens to the items that do not sell?

During our initial evaluation of your personal property, a few options and recommendation will be provided to you in the event items are left over at the end of the estate sale. Additional fees may apply, and quote will be provided first. Please refer to our services section for additional information.

How long is the estate/liquidation sale for?

Typically, estate/liquidation sales are conducted over a 2-3-day timeframe usually (Thursday – Sunday) with hours from 9am-3pm.  The size of the estate and location also play a factor in to the timeframe. The timeframe for an  online estate sale will differ and is based on the amount and type of items for sale.

Can the owner be present at the sale?

While we encourage the owner to be involved in the planning of their event, we do not recommend or encourage the owner be present during the estate sale event.  Lone Star Legacy Liquidators understands the importance of everything working as planned and will keep our clients’ best interest in mind before, during, and after the event.

When will I receive payment after the sale event is completed?

Lone Star Legacy Liquidators will reconcile all services as contracted and will submit payment to our client as agreed upon in such contract.  Typically, after the close of the event and a full reconciliation and audit has occurred, payments can be disbursed as soon as 7-10 business days from that point.

Is it safe to attend or conduct an estate sale during the current pandemic?

Your health and safety is important to us?   During an on-site estate sale we will take all precautionary measures to prevent infection & avoid exposure to the virus.  We will follow all CDC, local & state guidelines for conducting business in a safe manner.  All our staff will wear a face covering, gloves, practice social distancing, conduct temperature checks before the start of the sale, and we will sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently.  We will also provide hand sanitizer for customer use.

All customers attending our on-site estate sale will be expected to wear face coverings that cover the nose and mouth in order to enter the estate sale and to sanitize their hands upon entry, along with practice social distancing at all times.

In order to follow all guidelines we will also limit the number of customers entering the indoor space in order to allow for appropriate social distancing.
